Members do not necessarily work together, but they form a common identity and understanding through their common interests and interactions. Some communities of practice arise around educational repositories of explicit or formal knowledge, with participants as instructors and students as creators, users and practicioners of Open Educational Resources (OER). Success in these communities depend of several key factors that constitute a culture of quality and guidelines within their own respective local communities. A reflection about these issues as the elaboration of the taxonomies or sustainability are discussed in the case of Merlot Communities in Computer Science and Information Systems. |
